Outer Journey
While on this trip my favorite place that I got the
opportunity to visit was Muriel’s, it was a unique and exciting experience and
I enjoyed every minute of it. We first learned about Muriel’s on our cuisine
tour when our tour guide mentioned that it was a popular thing to order a drink
then sit on the top balcony looking out at the square and getting to see
everything that was going on, that particular description got our attention and
made us want to try it. We next learned about this building on our haunted
tour, we learned that this building in particular was owned by a man who had a
problem with gambling and ended up losing his house in a bet, he did not want
to part with it so he ended up killing himself inside the house. After hearing
this story, it made us want to visit this building even more! When we finally
got to visit this spot on our free day it was beautiful the view was amazing,
and the square was surprisingly peaceful which made for a very relaxing time. I
will truly miss this spot because while sitting up on the balcony taking in the
city and observing all the people in the square I actually felt for the first
time on this trip like I belonged, and I wasn’t just a tourist. I would go back
to this spot in a heartbeat and would definitely recommend this spot to anyone
who is planning a trip to New Orleans.
Inner journey
As our trip to New Orleans is coming to an end I was
thinking about all my favorite memories and experiences and one event in
particular comes to mind when thinking about all the different tours we got to
go on for class, and that is the pharmacy museum. The pharmacy museum was hands
down my favorite class activity because I found everything that we learned to
be very exciting and it pertained to my career which made it even more
interesting to me. I enjoyed this tour because I learned so much about medicine
that I had never even heard of before, some of the techniques and medicines
they practiced I would have never guessed took place I found myself being
captivated the whole time and just really enjoying myself. When thinking about
my favorite part of the trip as a whole my mind immediately went to sitting at
Muriel’s on the balcony this is my favorite because I felt so relaxed and at
peace with everything it was truly an amazing experience one that made my whole
trip, I got to just sit and see the city for what it truly is. During my time
in New Orleans for this trip I have learned many things about the people who
live here but one thing in particular that I learned was that the people who live
here are extremely proud of their city and proud to be a part of it and I
thought that was very cool to see. Any individual who you talked to who lived
in New Orleans talked so highly of their city and made sure you understood how
proud they were to be there, this was something I’ve never seen before. On this
trip I learned multiple things about myself, one being that I am fully capable
(more than I think) of surviving and navigating in a big city like New Orleans,
I was able to get around by myself and understand and know where I was going
which is something I would have never thought I’d be able to do. That being
said I have also realized about myself that I do not wish to live in a big city
like that there was way too much chaos for me and felt myself being very
exhausted after every day and just over all overwhelmed with the city. Over the
span of this trip I have learned and got to experience so much and I am so
thankful I had this great opportunity to do so.
